Contribution to the study of factors influencing the photodegradation of a plastic film used in protected cultivation of maize

Maize was sown under a 12-15 mu m thick polyethylene film laid simultaneously with precision drilling over a 0.5 ha plot. Parameters likely to influence photodegradation, e.g. sunshine hours, solar radiation and temp. above and below the plastic film, were monitored continuously using a heliograph, pyranometer and thermocouples resp.
