Contribution to the study of grain yield and quality in some varieties of winter malting barley

Contribution to the study of grain yield and quality in some varieties of winter malting barley

Arhiv za Poljoprivredne Nauke 47(165): 29-45

In a study (1983-84) of 9 F4-F5 hybrids derived from crosses involving 5 varieties, using the parents as controls, hybrid 2 (from erdap X Novosadski 293) gave the highest mean yield (6.46 t/ha). This hybrid and hybrid 9 (from erdap X Novosadski 183) showed transgressive segregation for high yield. All the hybrids had a high percentage of first-class grains (especially hybrid 9) and a moderately high protein content (highest in erdap).
