Contribution to the study of human hookworm disease in Guadeloupe (French West Indies)

, : Contribution to the study of human hookworm disease in Guadeloupe (French West Indies). Bulletin de la Societe de Pathologie Exotique et de ses Filiales 76(1): 76-86

Intestinal parasites were found in 651 (40%) of 1628 inhabitants of Guadeloupe. Trichuris, Strongyloides, hookworm, Ascaris and Schistosoma ova were present in 20, 14, 6, 4 and 3.3% respectively. Of 105 faecal samples with hookworm ova, direct examination was positive in 6% of the cases compared with 61% detected by concentration techniques and 33% detected by both methods.
