Coton et Fibres Tropicales 42(1): 23-39



Cotton B49 was grown in controlled environments at 20, 24, 28, 30 or 32 degrees C and stem and root wt, time to and duration of flowering, number of flowers, percentage boll shedding, seed cotton production and total plant DW were compared. Continuous temp. of 20 degrees or 32 degrees promoted growth and vegetative development at the expense of boll, seed and lint production. Increasing temp. shortened time to flowering from 99 days at 20 degrees to 47 days at 32 degrees.
