Contribution to the technological and construction optimisation of a manure disposal unit in a specialised production unit for rearing dairy cows with free housing without bedding

Contribution to the technological and construction optimisation of a manure disposal unit in a specialised production unit for rearing dairy cows with free housing without bedding

Acta Technologica Agriculturae 27: 381-391

Possible alternatives for manure disposal in a dairy for 600 cows housed in 3 separate sections (200 cows each; heifers tied in, milking cows free standing) are assessed. Housing is on concrete floors without bedding. Systems of central channels for manure collection, ducts for the collection of liquid manure, above- and underground manure storage tanks, and machinery needed for cleaning the floors are considered in the calculations of capital investments and running costs.
