An integrated control programme (soyabeans preceeding maize, co-injected anhydrous ammonia with EPTC + safener, glyphosate or paraquat + atrazine/cyanazine at sowing, and directed post-em. sethoxydim at layby) provided excellent Sorghum halepense control in maize grown in heavily infested no-tillage fields in 1985 and 1986. The various components of the integrated programme were evaluated separately for S. halepense control.
