Contributions of major and minor elements to soils and vegetation by the coal-fired Four Corners Power Plant, San Juan County, New Mexico

Contributions of major and minor elements to soils and vegetation by the coal-fired Four Corners Power Plant, San Juan County, New Mexico

Geological Survey Professional Paper (1129-A-I): B1-B13

The major chemical components in the ash from the Four Corners coal-fired power plant in San Juan County, New Mexico, are Al2O3, SiO2, K2O, CaO, MgO, Na2O and Fe2O3. Many minor elements, including Sb, As, F, Hg, Se, Te, U and Zn, are enriched in the fly ash relative to the bottom ash or coal.
