Contributions of nonsymbiotic nitrogen fixation to the nitrogen uptake by paddy rice

The proportion of nonsymbiotically-fixed N in the total N absorbed by rice plants and its relation to soil types was studied in pots filled with permeable paddy soil, stagnating paddy soil and calcareous well-drained paddy soil collected from Taihu Lake Region. The soils were air-dried, ground and supplied with N, P and K in which urea was labelled with 15N with an abundance of 21.2% and applied at 1.12 kg N/5.5 kg soil.
