Regional trials over 3-5 years showed that 6 lines bred at Turda yielded up to 23% more than 5 foreign controls, CTO1646 reaching a maximum of 7.75 t/ha in 1984. They also had superior lodging resistance and good disease resistance. In particular, resistance to Helminthosporium teres was high, with only 10-15% infection compared with 25-35% in Trumpf and Grit. The starch/protein ratio was similar to that of these last two varieties, which are noted for their malting quality.
