Contributions to establishing some technological elements in maize cultivation under irrigation in Dobrogea

In 1981-84 at Valu lui Traian on a vermic chernozem, maize hybrids were sown at 40 000-100 000 plants/ha on 7 dates between 25 Mar. and 6 May. Optimum sowing date occurred when soil temp. reached <more or =>8 degrees C at 10 cm depth. Max. grain yields were achieved by sowing between 8 and 15 Apr. in Dobrogea-64, Pioneer 3780 and Fundulea 308 and between 1 and 8 Apr. in Pioneer 3978, Lovrin-400 and Fundulea 420. Grain yields decreased with sowing at the end of Apr. and the beginning of May.
