Contributions to the study of the genetic control of the accumulation of assimilates in maize

Contributions to the study of the genetic control of the accumulation of assimilates in maize

Contributii ale cercetarii stiintifice la dezvoltarea agriculturii Volum omagial 1957-1987: 239-249

Results of diallel crosses of 10 early and 7 midearly inbred lines in 2 years showed that the accumulation of dry matter was controlled by non-additive gene effects and cytoplasmic effects at the vegetative (3-4 leaf) and reproductive (8-10 leaf) stages and in the mature plant. In midearly genotypes, additive genes also played a significant part in the mature plant. Net photosynthesis was under weak genetic control and environmental effects were important.
