Control and variation of in vivo nitrate reductase activity in Lolium perenne L. cv. S24



Plant and Soil 109(1): 103-108



Nitrate reductase activity in L. perenne S24 leaves was estimated using an in vivo assay method such that activity could be estimated at intervals of 5 min for up to 2 h. The pattern of nitrate reductase activity, as estimated by nitrite accumulation, showed pronounced oscillatory behaviour with a frequency of approximately 4 cycles/h; at certain seasons however oscillatory activity was not shown.
