Control of Florida beggarweed in peanuts with chlorimuron

Control of Florida beggarweed in peanuts with chlorimuron

Proceedings, American Peanut Research and Education Society 19: 56

In a field trial in groundnuts during 1985, chlorimuron (9, 18 and 36 g/ha) gave better control of Florida beggarweed (Desmodium tortuosum) when 40 cm high than when 20 cm high. Chlorimuron applied at 18 g/ha to the taller plants provided control comparable to season-long hand weeding. In 1986, chlorimuron applied at 9 and 18 g/ha to D. tortusum 8 cm high gave 80 and 100% control, resp., but when the weeds were 20 cm high, 18 and 36 g were required for the same level of control.
