Control of Heliothis armigera with Trichogramma - selection of Trichogramma spp. and their quantitative relation to hosts
The effectiveness of the egg parasites Trichogramma confusum T. closterae and T. dendrolimi in controlling the noctuid Heliothis armigera on cotton was assessed in field studies in China. Separate releases of each species at the rate of 30 000/mu resulted in rates of parasitism of 68, 54.3 and 45.3%, respectively. Mixed releases of any 2 species in the ratio of 1:1 at a rate of 30 000/mu resulted in slightly lower rates of parasitism than releases of each species alone.
