Control of Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess) (Dip: Agromyzidae) on yard-long (Vigna unguiculata) and pole beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) on Guam: effect on yield loss and parasite numbers

, : Control of Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess) (Dip: Agromyzidae) on yard-long (Vigna unguiculata) and pole beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) on Guam: effect on yield loss and parasite numbers. Tropical Pest Management 32(4): 333-337, 361, 365

In 3 trials, none of 6 insecticides that are in use on yard-long beans (Vigna unguiculata) and pole beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) in Guam controlled Liriomyza trifolii to any great extent, but fenvalerate and permethrin afforded excellent control. Of 4 species of parasites found, the commonest were the eulophids Hemiptarsenus semialbiclavus and Chrysonotomyia formosa. Fenvalerate did not have a significantly deleterious effect on the number of these parasites found in bean leaves.
