Control of a mixed-flow drier: Part 1 - Design of the control algorithm

, : Control of a mixed-flow drier: Part 1 - Design of the control algorithm. Divisional Note, AFRC Institute of Engineering Research, UK (DN 1393): 21

The algorithm alters the reciprocal of the throughput to minimise error between the logarithm of the output grain m.c. and the logarithm of the desired m.c. This choice of variables allows a mainly linear description of the drying process. A mathematical model of the drier was used to predict its frequency response. This allows the use of standard control techniques to choose a controller giving good performance over the range of operating conditions.
