Control of bean anthracnose caused by the delta and lambda races of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum in Canada



Plant Disease 72(1): 5-8



The aetiology, symptoms, epidemiology and control measures (including pedigreed seed inspection, seed treatment, crop rotation and breeding programme) of anthracnose of Phaseolus vulgaris are discussed. It is concluded that although expensive, a breeding programme for the Ontario dry bean industry is justified as only 4 or 5 cultivars are in use and the large hectarage of dry bean is concentrated in a relatively small area.
