Control of bracken in pastures

Fourrages (112): 383-397
Control of bracken in pastures
Control of bracken (Pteridium aquilinum) in pastures is reviewed with reference to its poisonous effects and implications for livestock management, its biology as it relates to spread and survival, and economic aspects of bracken control. Problems associated with mechanical control measures (labour availability and costs, timing of cutting operations) and herbicide application (herbicide costs, need for the maintenance of a high proportion of legumes in the treated sward) are discussed.
