Control of breaking and lodging in maize by specific technological measures

Control of breaking and lodging in maize by specific technological measures

Contributii ale cercetarii stiintifice la dezvoltarea agriculturii Volum omagial 1957-1987: 263-279

From a study of 8 hybrids in 1980-85 it was established that genotype, year, crop density and the interactions between them were the major factors affecting stem breaking and lodging due to disease damage. Fertilizer application had a moderate effect. Only Turda 199 was resistant at 90 000 plants/ha. With the exception of the midseason hybrid Turda 215, early hybrids were more susceptible than midseason types.
