Control of broadleaf mistletoe (Phoradendron tomentosum) with dormant season ethephon sprays

Control of broadleaf mistletoe (Phoradendron tomentosum) with dormant season ethephon sprays

Acta Horticulturae (201): 141-144

Application of ethephon to P. tomentosum, infesting deciduous landscape trees, induced abscission of its leaves and branchlets. At the highest concentrations tested (2% a.i.) all the branchlets fell off within 75 days of application. Even after a further 150 days, little regrowth was apparent. Ethephon appeared to have no effect on the host trees.
