Control of cattle ticks using flumethrin in central Zambia

Flumethrin pour-on formulation was used on a herd of cattle every 14 days for 24 weeks. Compared with an untreated herd, treatment controlled 95% of all species. Treatment was 100% effective against Boophilus decoloratus, 96.6% against Hyalomma truncatum, 95.6% against Amblyomma variegatum, 94.2% against Rhipicephalus appendiculatus, and 91.3% against Rhipicephalus spp.
