Six insecticides, phorate, carbosulfan, carbofuran, permethrin, triazophos and cyfluthrin, were applied in the spring to autumn-sown faba beans to control the curculionid Sitona lineatus in the UK in 1982-85. Treatments included sprays and granules at a range of concentrations. All the treatments in 1983 decreased adult feeding and larval numbers significantly and increased yields.
