Control of diarrhoea and septicaemia in colostrum deprived calves

11 male colostrum-deprived calves weighing 20-28 kg were divided into 2 groups. Calves in group 1 (5 calves) were given orally 100 g faeces (from a clinically normal 3-year-old Jersey steer) suspended in 500 ml of milk substitute. Calves in group 2 (6 calves) were not treated. All the calves were fed milk substitute and a concentrate mixture and were reared in separate pens. Sick calves were not treated.
