Control of gastrointestinal strongyles in sheep and goats in the French West Indies: development of benzimidazole resistance and the benefit of pasture management

Control of gastrointestinal strongyles in sheep and goats in the French West Indies: development of benzimidazole resistance and the benefit of pasture management

Revue d' Elevage et de Medecine Veterinaire des Pays Tropicaux 38(4): 386-393

Six lambs were experimentally infected with a strain of Haemonchus contortus utkalensis isolated in Martinique, and four weeks later, four of them were treated with fenbendazole. Egg counts, worm burdens, proportions of morphological types of females, and their fecundity, showed that the helminths were resistance to fenbendazole treatment.
