Control of ixodid ticks by chemicals, I. Bioassay tests against Boophilus microplus (Can.)

To test the efficacy of various acaricides, one-day-old engorged females of Boophilus microplus were dipped for 50 seconds into water-based emulsions of Hexadrin Hexamition Zolone Metacide Malamar or Hexavin at concentrations in the range of 0.0039 to 1.0%. The LD50 for each product was 0.00536, 0.03631, 0.07679, 0.08433, 0.1422 and 0.478%, respectivly, at 30 degrees C and 80% RH. The effect of each product on egg production and hatch-rate was also studied.
