A summary is presented of investigations in Andhra Pradesh on the incidence (in 1973-84), injuriousness and control (using insecticides, pest-resistant crop varieties, monitoring and natural enemies, and leading to integrated control) of pests of pigeon pea The major pest was Heliothis armigera Melanagromyza obtusa, Exelastis atomosa, Maruca testulalis and Tanaostigmodes sp. also assumed regular pest status in recent seasons, and Lampides boeticus, Catochrysops cnejus and Eucosma critica were recorded many times.
