In trials made between 1981 and 1985 on a collective farm, Borets near Moscow, cows which produced 16 kg milk daily were given daily in winter hay or grass meal 3.0 or 2.5, grass pellets 2, silage 15 to 20, beet 10 to 15 kg, concentrates up to 400 g/litre milk produced, and in summer, perennial grass 50, wilted herbage 25, hay 1 kg and concentrates 300 g/litre milk produced. Dry cows were given hay to appetite, beet 5, grass pellets 2 and concentrates 2 kg.
