Control of reel speed on combine harvester cereal cutter bars

Control of reel speed on combine harvester cereal cutter bars

Agrartechnik, German Democratic Re ic 37(4): 159-162

A pick-up reel speed controller was developed on the basis of studies of the effect of reel speed on cutter bar losses. Reel speed was adjusted proportionally to working speed. Construction and operational details are presented. The prototype was tested on several farms and proved that cutter bar losses could be reduced by up to 50% according to crop.
