Control of sucker growth on Vitis vinifera cv. Merlot with NAA derivatives

Control of sucker growth on Vitis vinifera cv. Merlot with NAA derivatives

Vitis 25(3): 169-177

To control undesirable shoot growth on the trunks of vines trained to medium height (50 to 180 cm) on vertical trellises, six different NAA esters were applied as sprays in May when shoot development was between bud break and the 3-leaf stage. The best results were produced by 8% E4 (2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethyl 1-naphthylacetate), E5 (2-(2-(2-ethoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethyl 1-naphthylacetate) and E9 (isopropyl 1-naphthylacetate).
