Control of threshing and corn/straw separation in combine harvester threshing mechanisms

, : Control of threshing and corn/straw separation in combine harvester threshing mechanisms. Agrartechnik, German Democratic Re ic 37(4): 162-165

Three combinations of combine harvester drum speed, concave clearance, sieve opening and cleaning fan speed were investigated in wheat and rye to determine optimum settings for achieving max. throughput with min. energy consumption, grain loss and grain damage. The effects of drum speed, concave clearance and crop moisture were also studied. Losses increased with throughput and the slight effect of settings also increased accordingly. Losses also increased with moisture levels.

Siwilo, R., 1977: Use of high-speed photography for the analysis of the threshing process in a threshing unit of a maize combine harvester. The expansion of maize cultivation in Poland triggered off studies to assess the use of the combine harvester in the harvesting and threshing of maize ears. The harvester was adapted to harvest maize with success. The use of high-speed photography...

Budach, S., 1996: Rotary grain-straw separation systems. Study of new grain-straw separating elements for combine harvesters with a conventional threshing system. The vertical pulses transmitted by the shakers to the layers of material result in a gradual compression of the lower layers and therefore make it more difficult for grain to pass through.
