Control of threshing and corn/straw separation in combine harvester threshing mechanisms

Three combinations of combine harvester drum speed, concave clearance, sieve opening and cleaning fan speed were investigated in wheat and rye to determine optimum settings for achieving max. throughput with min. energy consumption, grain loss and grain damage. The effects of drum speed, concave clearance and crop moisture were also studied. Losses increased with throughput and the slight effect of settings also increased accordingly. Losses also increased with moisture levels.
