, : Control of tick-borne blood parasite Theileria annulata by vaccination of food producing animals. 1. Immunization of cattle against Theileria infection by using infection and treatment method. Veterinary Medical Journal 35(2): 259-274

Three six-month-old Friesian bulls were splenectomized and infected i/v with Theileria annulata infected blood. Parasites first appeared in blood 5 days after infection and peaked 16 days after infection. Haemoglobin levels and erythrocyte counts were decreased and leukocyte counts and body temperature were increased. Two of the bulls were treated with a single injection of imidocarb dipropionate (s/c, 2.4 mg/kg), and oxytetracycline (15 mg/kg) daily for 5 days.
