Control of whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum, by Paecilomyces fumosoroseus var. beijingensis Fange et Q.T. Chen in greenhouses


, : Control of whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum, by Paecilomyces fumosoroseus var. beijingensis Fange et Q.T. Chen in greenhouses. Chinese Journal of Biological Control 2(3): 129-131

Experiments carried out in Beijing, China, in 1982-84 showed that Paecilomyces fumosoroseus var. beijingensis gave 71-100% control of Trialeurodes vaporariorum on cucumbers in the greenhouse at a mean temperature of 15.6-21.3 degrees C and 79-93% RH. Three applications of the fungal spores at intervals of 10-14 days, beginning at the initial fruiting stage, resulted in an average reduction in adult populations of 40%.
