Control of wild oats (Avena fatua L.) by herbicides and crop rotations

In field trials at Prague-Ruzyne in 1980-83, Medicago sativa and spring barley were grown continuously for 3 years or a rotation of spring barley/maize/spring barley was followed and changes in A. fatua populations were monitored in relation to canopy sequence with or without appropriate herbicide applications. Best control was given by 3 years of M. sativa which reduced A. fatua populations to 1% of the original level.
