Controlled reproduction of warm-water fishes as a method to compensate for protein deficiency in tropical and subtropical regions

Artificial reproduction and rearing of fresh water fishes under controlled conditions are proposed as methods to compensate for the problems of protein deficiency in tropical and subtropical regions. As climatic conditions are more favourable (warmer and more stable weather) in these regions growth of fishes is more rapid, feed utilization is better, sexual maturity is reached earlier and reproduction is twice as high as in the European region.
