Correlations between total and economic yield in interspecific hybrids of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. X Gossypium barbadense L.)

In F2 hybrids studied during 1981-84, total yield (total number of well-developed bolls set) and economic yield (number of mature bolls by 20 October) were correlated (r = 0.59-0.92 for the early hybrids and r = 0.35-0.73 for the midearly ones). The percentage of economic yield in relation to total yield was 34.8-85.5% in the early and 12-53.4% in the midearly hybrids.
