Cytoplasmic, additive genetic and non-additive genetic effects on milk production in New Zealand Friesians, Jerseys and their crosses

Cytoplasmic, additive genetic and non-additive genetic effects on milk production in New Zealand Friesians, Jerseys and their crosses

Journal of Dairy Science 71(Suppl. 1): 143

From 1st lactation records of 12 357 Friesian, 21 414 Jersey and 9066 crossbred cows, additive Friesian and Friesian maternal effects were +436 and -167 kg for milk, and -0.8 and -0.3 for fat percentage; individual and maternal heterosis was 4 and 5% resp. for milk yield, and 5% for fat yield, but heterosis effects were not significant for fat percentage.
