Tepary beans (Phaseolus acutifolius) were more resistant to feeding by the weevil Acanthoscelides obtectus than common beans (P. vulgaris). Developmental times were longer and mortality percentages were greater on all tepary accessions compared with common beans. In most cases, emergence rates and adult prereproductive dry weights were lower on tepary versus common bean accessions.
