Rajan, T.S.S.; Padmanaban, V.D., 1987: Diagnosis of rabies with glycosuria in herbivores. Indian Veterinary Journal 64(4): 274-279
Glucose was detected in the urine of 38 herbivores (25 of 47 cattle, 10 goats, 1 horse, 1 sheep, 1 pig) out of 57 positive cases. The confidence level of the test ranged from 48 to 85% with a mean level of 67%. In 56 herbivores (out of 57) rabies could be diagnosed by demonstration of Negri bodies in the brain impression smears giving the test a confidence level of 97.46 to 98.54% with a mean level of 98%.
