Dry matter accumulation and nutrient uptake in pigeonpea as affected by intercropping and nitrogen fertilizer

Pigeonpeas grown in rows 50 and 75 cm apart or in paired rows at 30/70 and 30/120 cm were intercropped with sorghum or sesame and were given 0, 25 or 50 kg N/ha. DM production/plant by pigeonpeas and intercrops was higher at the lower plant density than at the higher plant density but DM production and N, P and K uptake/unit area were higher at the higher plant density.
