Abstract
The field experiments conducted during 1979-80 and 1981-82 to study the dry matter accumulation pattern of wheat variety HD-2189 as influenced by irrigation levels based on pan evaporation revealed that irrigations at 1.0 to 1.2 IW/CPE ratios were found sufficient for increased dry matter in various plant parts of wheat. The treatment of 60 mm irrigation depth at a given ratio proved better than 80 mm in increasing dry matter accumulation at optimum level. The mean contribution of leaf, stem, and panicle to total dry matter at harvest was 10, 24.5 and 65.5 percent, respectively. The higher yield of wheat grain was recorded from plants having higher dry matter accumulation.
