Effect of Jet-Sploding and extrusion on in situ rumen degradation and intestinal disappearance of canola and soybean protein

Effect of Jet-Sploding and extrusion on in situ rumen degradation and intestinal disappearance of canola and soybean protein

Agriculture and Forestry Bulletin (Special issue): 80-81

The effects were examined of heat (Jet-Sploding and extrusion) and chemical (formaldehyde) treatment on ruminal protein degradation and intestinal digestibility of canola rapeseed and soyabeans as estimated by the nylon bag technique using 2 ruminally and duodenally cannulated lactating Holstein-Friesian cows. It is concluded that Jet-Sploding appears to be an effective method for decreasing protein degradation in the rumen.
