6 Streptococcus lactis, 4 S. cremoris and 3 Leuconostoc dextranicum strains were cultured for 24 h at 25 degrees C in media with 0.1% Tween 80 and various concentrations of peptone (0.5-2.0%), glucose (0.5-2.0%), K2HPO4 (0-1.0%), yeast autolysate (0-1.5%), MgSO4.7H2O (0-0.1%) and MnSO4.5H2O (0-0.05%).
