The effects of 3 cutting stages (vegetative stage, 50% flowering and soft dough stage), 3 levels of N fertilizer (0, 80 and 160 kg N/ha) and 2 sowing rates (8 and 16 kg/ha) on some growth and yield characteristics of Sorghum bicolor were studied in autumn 1984-85 in Iraq. Plants cut at the soft dough stage outyielded those cut at the other stages. N application increased almost all the factors studied, except the crop fractions.
