Effect of different nitrogen application rates on the yield and quality of spring barley in the potato- and maize-growing regions

In field trials in 1976-82 at Brezova (potato growing region) and Pohorelice (maize growing region), spring barley was given 0-90 kg N/ha. Higher grain yields and better grain quality were obtained after a root crop at Brezova and after a cereal at Poharelice. N rate did not significantly influence yield. Weather conditions most influenced yield, followed by preceding crop.
