A 2-year field trial with the Gorubathan revealed that the use of the largest rhizomes (40 g) at planting gave the greatest plant height, number of leaves per clump and rhizome yield. An increase of 33, 51 and 80% in yield was recorded by increasing the weight of rhizomes from 10 to 20, 30 and 40 g, respectively, at planting.
