Effect of differential application of nitrogen on growth and yield of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.)

In 2-season field trials with the Co.1, N was applied at 0, 100, 120, 140 or 160 kg/ha. One-fifth was applied as basal dressing, together with P and K each at 60 kg/ha. The remaining N was applied as 4 equal top dressings 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after planting. Good growth and the highest yields of fresh rhizomes (40 120-41 870 kg/ha) were obtained with N at 120 kg/ha.
