Effect of feeding urea treated rice straw on the growth of crossbred heifers

Effect of feeding urea treated rice straw on the growth of crossbred heifers

Indian Journal of Animal Nutrition 4(1): 52-54

Treating rice straw (crude protein (CP) 2.80% and 50% DM) with 4% urea and storing in an open stack for 30 days increased CP to 8.35%. Twelve crossbred heifers in 3 groups were given A. a control diet of green fodder + concentrate 1.5 kg + dried grass to appetite, B. untreated rice straw to appetite + concentrate 2.0 kg or, C. urea treated rice straw to appetite + concentrate 1.5 kg.
