In substitution lines of the frost-susceptible Bezostaya 1 with chromosomes 1D and 6D from the highly resistant Albidum, 114, exposure to 0 degrees C for 1 h caused changes in mitochondrial activity similar to those noted in Albidum 114, while Bezostaya 1 lines with chromosomes 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, 1A, 1B and 6A of Albidum 114 showed no such reaction to cold stress.
