In field trials at Taquari, Rio Grande do Sul in 1982-83, sorghum was harvested at 5-day intervals beginning at anthesis of half of the panicle in 50% of plants. Germination potential of seeds depended on origin of seed and decreased with increasing distance from the panicle apex.
