Effect of profile modification on alfalfa production and peach tree growth

Medicago sativa and peaches were grown on a highly weathered acid soil of Appling coarse sand loam which had been treated by deep lining and disturbing or surface gypsum application. Lime and gypsum treatment altered the distribution of Al species in the soil solution and created a more favourable root environment in the subsoil for M. sativa.
